‘Straddle for jump’
✨ Join the Straddle Jump Fun! ✨
Sometimes the best movement is the one that makes you smile.
This week, I invite you to try something playful, simple, and energizing: the Straddle Jump a wide-legged jump that wakes up your whole body and brings back a sense of childlike joy!
This movement is part of my weekly inspiration to move with curiosity, freedom, and a little bit of fun.
Why try a Straddle Jump?
- Boosts strength and coordination
- Opens the hips and energizes the legs
- Builds explosive power + mobility
- And most of all… it’s FUN!
How to do a Straddle Jump
- Start standing, feet a little wider than hip-distance.
- Bend your knees slightly, swing your arms back.
- As you jump, extend your legs wide to the sides.
- Engage your core, land softly with bent knees.
Tip: Set a timer or use video mode try jumping over your dog, a pillow, or just mid-air for a fun capture! Take care, on your own risk ohh..
Sensitive knees or prefer low-impact?
You can absolutely join in try this seated straddle variation instead:
- Sit on the floor with your legs wide apart.
- Keep your spine long and gently sway side to side.
- Option: lean forward with your hands walking in front, feeling a deep stretch in your inner legs.
- Breathe deeply and enjoy the calm version of the pose.
Another option: use a mini trampoline!
Jumping on a soft surface reduces impact on your knees while keeping the bounce and joy.
Your turn!
Try your version, high or low, jumping or seated and share it with me if you’d like! Let’s celebrate movement in all its forms.
Here’s to feeling free in our bodies, at any pace.
